ICT AND ITS EFFECT ON SECONDARY SCHOOL EDUCATION
Abstract
The evolution of technology continues to redefine everything from education to the economy. Its influence extends to the very core of workplace competence and success, asking, just what is a basic skill? Technology is becoming an integral part of any modern classroom. As a teacher, it is important that you can recognize and understand the usefulness of various types of technology you might find in your classroom. The world is a global village, information dissemination is done in seconds, and offices are tuning into a paper-less office (Edhuze, 2009). All these could be attributed to digitalization, which is facilitated by information and communication technology devices such as computer, internet, fax, global system of mass communication (GSM) or mobile phone and satellites. We are now in the information age, small global village where then use of computer is now the order of the day. Therefore, students need to be taught how to make use of the computer so that they can make use of information technology. Information is that product which results from processed or transformed data.
